Dr. Harvey is an accomplished process engineer and executive with more than 35 years of experience spanning the mining, renewable energy, and technology sectors. He combines extensive technical expertise with senior executive leadership experience, including C-suite positions, and has a demonstrated track record of innovation, strategic decision-making, and solving complex technical and operational challenges.
Dr. Harvey is a Qualified Person (QP) and a Registered Member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME). His technical expertise encompasses a broad range of mineral processing and extractive metallurgical technologies, including conventional gold recovery, refractory gold pretreatment through pressure oxidation, stirred-tank biooxidation (BIOX), heap biooxidation, and roasting. His base metals experience includes polymetallic flotation, conventional oxide heap leaching, heap bioleaching, and stirred-tank bioleaching. He has provided consulting services to mining companies worldwide, specializing in process development and optimization, technical due diligence, feasibility studies, and financial modeling.
Throughout his career, Dr. Harvey has gained extensive international experience, having lived and worked in West Africa and South Africa and participated in mining and technology projects across numerous countries. His experience encompasses both project development and operational environments, providing a practical perspective on process design, implementation, and optimization.
Dr. Harvey has substantial expertise in the design, execution, and interpretation of metallurgical test programs. His experience covers mineralogical characterization, comminution, gravity separation, flotation, thickening and filtration, carbon-in-leach (CIL), gold and base metal heap leaching, refractory ore treatment, pressure oxidation, bioleaching, roasting, solvent extraction and electrowinning (SX/EW), and tailings processing. His multidisciplinary background enables him to evaluate and develop technically sound, commercially viable processing solutions.
In addition to his engineering and executive experience, Dr. Harvey has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed technical publications and numerous technical studies and has presented his research at international conferences. He also holds patents related to bioheap leaching and biofuels production, reflecting his contributions to innovation in mineral processing and renewable energy technologies.
Dr. Harvey holds a Ph.D., M.Sc., and B.Sc. in Mining Engineering, specializing in Mineral Processing, from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. He also holds an MBA from the University of New Brunswick and a degree in Metallurgical Engineering, with a minor in Computer Science, from Toronto Metropolitan University.
